Herbicide Selection in Maize Must Be Made According to Field Conditions

Both herbicides used in maize affect photosynthesis by suppressing photosystem II in sensitive weeds, but the similar mechanism of action does not require the same product to be selected in each field. The selection should take into account the types of weeds in the field and the behaviour of each product in the application conditions.

Studies in Brazil have found that two herbicides exhibit similar activity against many broad-leaved weeds. Although terbutylazine works better on some graminous species and trapoeraba under certain conditions, this superiority is not repeated in all maize fields.
